Deanna Copland
Naturopath & Nutritionist
Dee encourages a healthy, balanced lifestyle and recommends the right dietary and lifestyle habits to achieve optimal health and vitality. She takes into account the three pillars of health; the biochemical, the nutritional and the emotional.
Naturopathy concentrates on identifying destructive aspects in lifestyles that lead to imbalances. Before symptoms manifest and long before a diagnosis can be rendered, these destructive aspects of lifestyle can be identified and corrected. A range of methods are used, and which one is chosen depends upon the individual – no two treatments are the same.
Dee believes passionately in the practice of integrative medicine. As such, her approach to wellness incorporates traditional diagnostic tools (such as iridology and tongue analysis) as well as more modern techniques, such as Functional Testing and Blood tests.
She uses both nutritional and herbal medicines as part of her treatment approach, with a strong understanding of interactions between natural and pharmaceutical medicine due to both regular study and working in a large pharmacy in Australia for four years. This has meant Dee has been able to effectively and safely support individuals currently on prescription medication, and has worked in conjunction with General Practitioners (GPs) for the benefit of the patient.
Dee has been the guest speaker at a number of workplaces and gyms and does regular health segments on several radio stations and writes a health column for the Otago Daily Times newspaper and STYLE magazine.
She has a special interest in stress management, hormonal issues, pregnancy and Children’s Health. Her focus is on optimum health and wellness with a focus on prevention.
